BRIDGE ON THE VOLGA
“LEDiL was able to offer us the best secondary optics with high optical efficiency. The main factor that influenced the choice of lenses was the ability to exclude the color dispersion”
Marianna Serdyuk, Product Manager for architectural lighting, Boos Lighting Group
THE PROJECT
Completed in 2017 the Borskiy bridge crosses the river Volga linking the city of Nizhny Novgorod and the town of Bor in Western Russia. The bridge consists of two enormous arches representative of two iconic Volga images, a rainbow and seagull wings. It was therefore important to illuminate both arches to accentuate their architectural prominence reflecting the power of the river and the beauty of the surrounding forest landscape.THE SOLUTION
Boos Lighting Group rose to the challenge and chose LEDiL’s FLARE-MINI for the project. The finished lighting solution created a flexible system of architectural lighting to fully enhance the aesthetic beauty of the bridge arches.THE BENEFITS
The resulting interaction between the architectural lighting and the fast-flowing waters of the Volga creates an image full of references to numerous examples of Russian folk art. The golden light positively sparkles and glows off the steel arches reminiscent of a scene from Stravinsky’s ballet ‘The Firebird’.TOPICS OF THIS ARTICLE: OUTDOOR ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING
