"I was interested in evaluating the possibility to use an innovative and purely technical lens for one of my decorative lamps getting a light distribution of around 340°. I was initially intrigued by the original shape of ZORYA especially when I realised how moldable it was. It has allowed me to add precious detail and at the same time a magical lighting effect to the new 'Petits Bijoux' lamps."

When you want to design a new and innovative ceiling lamp in a world already full of iconic designs, both past and present, you know it will be no easy task. It is especially challenging when you are Italian, with a heritage of amazing design to live up to. Thankfully the constant innovation in new technologies can be helpful and in the lighting world that means LED.

SOLUTION

The advent of LED has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for lighting designers and designers of lighting. Enzo Catellani, of Catellani&Smith, has taken full advantage of LED to come up with a stunning design in his latest creation, the ceiling lamp 'Petits Bijoux'.

BENEFITS

Enzo was able to leverage the small size of LEDs and integrate them with LEDiL's ZORYA optics to get the 340° light distribution he required, in a design that perfectly combines beauty with function. And while beauty is subjective, perfection is not, and with 'Petits Bijoux' Enzo has surely created a future design classic worthy of a place in MOMA; only time will tell.
